Frequently Asked Questions

  • You will be in a private treatment room for a one-on-one session with one of our board-certified physical therapists.

    With your consent, the therapist will complete a review of your medical history, a functional/movement examination, and an internal pelvic floor examination if necessary. Through conversation, the therapist will learn about your goals for physical therapy, answer any questions you have, and develop a treatment plan that is evidence-based, holistic, and individualized for your needs.

  • The initial evaluation will last approximately 60 minutes. Follow-up appointments can vary between 45-50 minutes.

    Unlike certain larger practices, each appointment block is reserved exclusively for our patients. Please arrive prepared and on time.

    Specific schedules for each therapist will vary.

  • The answer varies on a case-by-case basis, but generally speaking, our patients see an improvement in their symptoms by the 4th to 6th visit.

    The speed of improvement varies according to many factors, such as individual level of health, frequency of visits, and patient commitment to self-care at home.

    Pelvic health patients are generally seen once a week. Orthopedic patients may require visits twice a week depending on symptoms. Patients can vary in symptom improvement from 2 sessions to 12 sessions.

  • No.

    Illinois is a Direct Access state for physical therapy, where patients do not need a referral from a doctor for treatment. However, each insurance plan is different and may require a script from your doctor for reimbursement and payment.

    Pelvic Therapy and Fitness will provide a courtesy benefit check with your insurance plan so you know what your covered benefits are. However, we always recommend you check with your individual plan for coverage of benefits. You may also complete the insurance benefits worksheet to find out if your insurance requires a prescription or referral.

  • Pelvic Therapy and Fitness is in-network with the following insurance companies:

    Blue Cross Blue Shield of IL, Cigna, Medicare

    If you have an out of network insurance. We will help guide you through working with your individual insurance plan.

  • A $50 no-show fee is charged which must be paid prior to resuming regular sessions. A $50 cancellation fee is charged if a patient cancels within 24 hours of appointment time.
